iHome Reinvents the Boombox: Pink and Portable

I haven't seen a boombox in public in oh, about, 15 years.  Although they were a staple of 80s culture, they are quite unnecessary since the revolution of personal media players and home entertainment systems.  This "stereo sport case" by iHome certainly resembles a boombox, which it is, and so much more.

10083_94_2

First of all, it's way cute and best of all, it's extremely simple.  Just like the regular iHome, you simply plug in your iPod and the music comes streaming out throught the built in speakers.  Only this one is a lightweight zip-up case that allows you to do it anywhere, free of electricity.   Take it to the beach or any public area where you might want to wirelessly play music from your iPod, without the hassle of dealing with batteries or extension cords.  No need to worry about water ruining your music player, because this rugged case is also water-resistant (the iPod goes inside).

Or, attach it to your headphones and while riding your bike (it comes with 2 brackets for this purpose).  It does seem a tad bulky to use by yourself at the gym, as the website suggests, unless of course you have issues holding onto the tiny iPod (one of those armbands might be a smarter choice though).

It has a remote control, and also charges your iPod with the included adapter.  Sa-weet!

Next Color for the Zune - Watermelon Red

Watermelons aren't even red, they are pink, but since they've already planned to release a baby pink Zune, I'll let this one slide.

Microsoft has announced that the next fabulous color for the Zune will be Watermelon Red.   This is much better than grody brown..  Ick.. what designer picked brown?  That is the least fashionable color for a gadget, ever.

AccessorWiis - In Color?

According to Go Nintendo, a retailer list they've seen shows Nintendo Wii accessories will be available in more colors than the original white.  The colors listed were Silver, Blue, and Pearl Pink.  (YES!!!!)

This is not official news from Nintendo, but the accessories are scheduled to ship in Europe on June 29.

Let's hope they're coming to the U.S. soon, I'm ready to play tennis with a pink "racquet."

Flash Bracelet - Wear Your Data Around Your Wrist

Do you have trouble losing your USB drive in that big handbag of yours?  Do you find rubber, brightly colored bracelets attractive?  I have trouble losing just about everything (including my wallet, which was recently lost and then stolen),  so this would be key for comfortably keeping track of important data.

Flash_custom_pic Imation Customized Flash Wristbands .... they come in 8 bright colors, including purple & pink, and snap around your wrist like a bracelet.  Price is determined by capacity, which is anywhere from 32MB to 1GB, depending on your needs.

To add to the appeal of this techy bangle, you can upload your own artwork or company logo to be placed on the outside of the wristband.  You can also order them preloaded with a video, document, tv commercial, or presentation - the ultimate marketing tool.

Springtime Cameras in Baby Pink, Baby Blue, and Purple

Sony's got the right idea when it comes to beautifying their cameras.  The new Cyber-Shot DSC-W55/P Digital Camera boasts features such as 7.2mpx, Carl Zeiss 3X optical zoom, and a 2.5" LCD screen.  It won't break the bank either, at $199.

But more importantly - it comes in gorgeous pastel pink and blue for Springtime (does this mean red & green for Christmas?  Ew!).   I'm actually digging the blue over the pink in this case, because it's just such a perfect color blue.

Not to be upstaged, Casio is rounding up the pastel camera market with the 10.2 megapixel Exilim Z1050.  This pretty little baby comes in pink, purple, black and silver, and holds 370 pictures on a single charge.  It also has 3x Optical Zoom and a 2.6" LCD screen, and is a bit more expensive at $299.

Bits & Pieces: iPod Cases of all Shapes & Sizes

2007Fabrix iPod Sleeves - heavy duty polyester & denim to protect your iPod from whatever may try to harm it.  Available in multiple sizes, so it's sure to fit whichever model you have.  It's $20, and available in some extremely adorable prints.

Prod_reflect_sub02a

Griffin Technology Mirrored Chrome iPod Cases.  A compact and iPod case in one - for those of us who are so vain, we need to see ourselves at all times.  It seems like this would be hard to keep clean, what with your fingers smudging it all the time, though it does have a black rubber backing.  $25.

Nmv5274_mn Juicy Couture velour mp3 case - that's right, it's velour, just like their famous tracksuits.  And, it's got several gold charms hanging off of it.  Beware, this iPod case is only for the uber trendy.  On sale at Neiman Marcus for $17 - marked down from $68 - what a steal!  (I'm pretty sure that's because it's meant for the iPod mini and who has those anymore?  Losers.)

Bibiipod_2Bibi felt iPod covers look like little monsters.  Designed by French twins Lauren and Paulina Bibi, these little handmade covers are sure to knock the socks off of even the toughest critic.  Not exactly logical, but they sure are damn cute.  $40-$50.

TechnOtunes Presents the Prettiest mp3 Watch Ever

I have mixed feelings about using a watch as an mp3 player (I can just picture myself dancing, swinging my arm out, and the earphone ripping my ear out), but I can appreciate the concept.  Even as just a plain old watch, this one is really cute!

4_pink_full1 4_pink_full2

It gives you up to 10 hours of playing time (fully charged), is water resistant (let's hope so), and has a built in 256MB flash chip.  Plus, it's preeeeeeeetty!

Oh, and it comes in purple, blue and black too.  Ooh la la.

Match Your Laptop To Your Outfit

Finally, your laptop can get dressed in cute little outfits, too! No longer will it freeze to death, naked, in it's hideous black and silver body.

Cherryblossoms Laptop_skin_eva_pink

Skyn Mobile's laptop skins come in a variety of bright & flashy colors (as well as sizes), are removable, reusable, and keep your little baby from getting dirty.  And for an extra $5, you can even have it monogrammed with genuine Swarovski crystals, because even laptops need jewelry!

Share Your Music with iSound Audio Vault

Here's something you can actually use. This little guy from i.Sound allows you to share your music with those around you.  Just zip in your iPod, put in 2 AA batteries, and let the music flow.  Or something along those lines.

B000i3duga01_sclzzzzzzz_v45521989_s

It's got a hard shell to protect your iPod, but has a soft pink exterior.  It's small too, so can fit easily in your bag while you're on the go.  This is a great idea for summer, while you're spending time at the pool, at picnics, or on road trips.  Thanks to the 'bass boost' speakers on the back, the sound is pretty impressive for such a tiny device.

Lets all buy these and throw our boomboxes out the window!

Unnecessary Bulkyness - iWalk Headphones

In theory, the iWalk is a good idea, but this design is terrible.  I can't imagine anyone actually using this unless they have total disregard for how silly they might look.  This reminds me of the first headphones ever made.  Not that I've ever seen them, but I'm sure they look something like this:

Iwalk

Minus the iPods.  If you are in fact interested in bringing back the 80s, it'll cost you about $60.

Not only does Schtickers give you the option of covering your laptop in sushi or Van Gogh(see below), but now you can cover it in faux suede as well.  Choose between pink, blue, black or red, these removable and reusable stickers will protect your notebook, and at the same time, make it fashionable AND soft.

It's no big surprise, I'm partial to the pink one.

Julien MacDonald Provides Facelift for the Sony Ericsson K510i

Are you over your solid colored mobile?  Looking for something a bit brighter, a bit spicier, yet still feminine?  Try this on for size..

Julien Fashion designer Julien MacDonald teamed up with Sony Ericsson to give the K510i, which is over a year old, a fresh facelift.  The design on the phone is cute enough to wear, so it's no surprise that she took it directly from a print in her Spring/Summer 07 collection, and was inspired by exotic flowers (specifically, orchids).

The phone has a 1.3MP camera, bluetooth, and an mp3 player.

Gadgets You Can Wear Like Jewelry from Philips & Swarovski

Philips & Swarovski, the maker of those fabulous Austrian crystals, have partnered up to create a line of consumer lifestyle gadgets and fashion accessories for women.  Have a look at some of the products they've spawned - they are some of the most dazzling tech-cessories I've ever seen.

Sleek and sassy, these earphones aren't just suitable for the gym or on the train to work - they're good enough to use even in your shnazziest outfit.  They come in three styles:  Space, Icon, and Amazone, all ear-bud headphones.  A fourth, Mirage, is of the wrap-around variety, for those who prefer that.

SpaceIcon

Amazone

As if that isn't enough, they've also produced some gorgeous sparkling USB memory keys, or as they call it, the 'Active Crystals' collection.  There are four styles, HeartWear and HeartBeat (both which can be worn around your neck), as well as Lock In and Lock Out (which can connect to your keychain).  They are equipped with 1GB of storage, so you have plenty of room, and they all require a password to access the data.   You will have to be patient though, as they won't be available until August.  No word on price, yet!

HeartwareHeartbeat1LockinLockout

According to reports, they plan to release flat panel and LCD TVs, audio and visual DVD players - all targeted at "young consumers between 22-35 years aspiring for premium lifestyle and jewellery products."

I'm so excited about this!  I would like one of each, please.

The Sega Dream Chick.... No, it's Not a Girl

Where was my Sega Dream Chick on Easter?  Tell me you haven't secretly wished you had a baby chick to cuddle and pet and canoodle via "coochie-choochie-coo!"... They are just so darn cute!

Drmchick

Sega Toys channeled the adorable market with this little guy that actually flaps it's wings and makes peeping noises when you hold it close and pet it's lil head.  Awww!!  An interactive stuffed animal that doesn't do backflips and make obnoxious barking noises - perfect!  They're cheap too, at $12.90.

Finally, a Lamborghini That (Some of Us) Can Afford

As if there aren't already a thousand and one sources to drain our bank accounts, here is yet another "useful" product to waste your money on.

Does regular coffee just not do it for you?  Does your Mr. Coffee coffeepot not provide enough ecxitement in your life?  Are you having a mid-life crisis, yet can't afford that Lamborghini to make all your dreams come true?  Well here's the answer to your problems....

Lamborghinicoffee13 A Lamborghini Coffee Machine!  That's right, brew "extraordinary" coffee in this nearly $2,000 coffee maker.    Let's hope you don't have to fill it up with gas to make it work.

Fresh, Pretty Laptop Bags for Spring

Alright, it's official, Spring is here. At least in Los Angeles it is! That means it's time for new clothes, new bedding, new hair, and new boyfriends. And here's the perfect choice for your new laptop bag.

It's pretty, floral, bright, and colorful. It comes in 5 different colors, is lightweight, and looks very functional and durable compared to some of the colorful bags out there right now. Only drawback: It doesn't fit laptops larger than 14". It retails for $54.95 from http://www.edotsquare.com.

Take Better Pictures of Yourself with Quik Pod

This is one of those products that you kick yourself for not inventing. It's going to change the way we take pictures of ourselves forever! I can't even count the many variations of the "self taken photo" that I've seen, and half of the time you can't get both your faces in, the side of your arm fat is in the picture, it's too close (i.e, making you look like an alien), there are many variations, and very RARELY do you actually get a good shot.

So this Quik Pod, is an expandable wand that attaches to your camera and acts as a portable, handheld tripod to take your photos. It's also handy for taking pictures at concerts or largely crowded places. And it's insanely affordable, only $25.

Catwalk Worthy Mobiles from Elite Model Look

Elite Model Management is one of the most, well, elite, management agencies in the modeling/fashion industry. Their worldwide model search, Elite Model Look, has been around for almost 15 years. Not to be left behind in the technology frenzy, they are releasing a line of cells designed for the high attitude fashionista on a diet.

There are two models, one, which is quite literally, a SQUARE, and the other, which is more visually appealing in pink.

The EML1 is a tiny, lightweight phone that fits in the palm of your hand. It's got a camera, because it's common fact that models love to have their pictures taken!

goodies_ball.jpg
Here it is, sporting one of the trendy accessories that are available for it, a dangly ball!

The EML2 is larger, and much pinker. It too has a camera, and although a bit chunky, is pretty cute.

elitecell.jpg

Personally I'm very enticed by this, not because of the design or product, but because in addition to bringing you these fabulous gadgets, I model as well. And if Elite is getting into the game, it opens up the door to other fashion-inspired gadgets. Are you ready for it?

More info here.

Next Up for LG: The Banana!

We've seen the Chocolate, the Prada, and the Shine. The next trendy phone on the radar from LG is called a 'Banana.' No doubt named after it's curvy ergonomical design, the Banana will be released in South Korea first and surely will make it's way to the US too.

ljbanana.jpg

I half expected it to be yellow, but in white & orange, it's not that bad (although it could be better if it were like, painted in pastels!)

Hot Water Saver is Eco-Friendly and Saves Money

This Shower Hot Water Saver by REWilliams is a simple yet useful device to stop the waste of hot water, and save you money as well. It isn't hideous or too bulky, and just screws into your current showerhead. This product has a sensor that knows when the water is your preferred temperature and then pauses the flow of water. When you're finally ready to get in, just flip the switch, and on with the show.

rewilliams_1946_3381541.jpg

I always turn the water on way before I get in the shower, so that it will heat up. And I'm guilty too, sometimes I turn it on and start doing something, all the while wasting hot water! The company claims that a household of 3 will save over $75.00 a year in wasted water costs. Considering the price of the product ($39.95), it seems well worth it.
