I'm a 24 year old girl who lives in Southern California. You'd expect me to spend my weekends at the beach, sunning myself. Think again! After reading countless horror stories about skin cancer, it's near impossible to ignore the warnings. SPF 700 or bust. Even after slathering it on every inch of skin, I still get paranoid!
This bikini from Fiona Carswell might look sexy, but when you've been in the sun too long, it begins to show grody spots of malignant moles - aka skin cancer - all over the swimsuit. So unless you want to look like you don't wash your suit, you have to find some shade to get the suit back to it's original color. It's also a nice reminder of what you're risking spending all that time in the sun.

Well, at least it will help get the message of the dangers of too much sun exposure.

Nasty, and the health detriments of spending 'too much time in the sun' are drastically overstated at the least.
I know people who are sun worshippers, who are out in the sun every minute it is out, and who do not have one skin blemish or skin cancer.
I also know people who SHUN sunlight and who do have skin cancer.
It's just a SERIOUSLY overstated risk and needs to be tested more to see what the ACTUAL risk is in real life.

As someone who has had melanoma, I can tell you that it won't be that obvious. My melanoma looked like a tiny blood blister on top of a mosquito bite. It was completely unremarkable. But when it came time to have it removed, they left a 5" scar.
Melanoma is like breast cancer: it spreads through the lymph system to other parts of the body. So the dot on your arm or leg winds up as lumps in your lungs or brain. It may start in the skin, but the danger is in where it ends up. Its not "just skin cancer". Melanoma skin/brain/lung/liver/bone cancer.
Remember that 99% of the worlds people will never develop melanoma. If you are light skinned, blond or red haired, blue eyed, you need to take precautions. All the tans in the world are not worth it. Have fun in the sun, celebrate your ghostness, but be safe. The side benefit is that you will look 35 when you are 45!
