Among many other very happening and stylish digital cameras, Canon has unveiled it's PowerShot SD1100 IS Digital ELPH at PMA in Las Vegas. And it's a purdy one!
Though this particular model is less about technology and more about fashion, it's still packed full of features, such as 8 megapixel resolution, 3x optical zoom, and includes Canon’s “Optical Image Stabilizer” technology. It also features 18 shooting modes (including Auto, Beach, Sunset, Fireworks, Aquarium, Indoor, Kids & Pets, and Night Snapshot) to help you take the perfect picture.
But let's get back to the sleek and stylish exterior of the latest addition to the Digital ELPH family. The SD1100 IS is available in 5 beautiful shiny colors: Rhythm & Blue, Swing Silver, Melody Pink, Bohemian Brown and Golden Tone.
Keep an eye out - it will be available in March at an estimated price of $249.00.

I have the SD1000 and I happen to love it. I would have preferred OIS but it wasn't available and that's the camera that I wanted, so I got it. The SD1100's look like a nice upgrade. I would only be willing to go with the silver version and I wish that they had also marketed a silver version with the black ring, as the 1000's had. The shiny silver ring will just lead to fingerprints galore but that seems to be the standard these days, for whatever reason.

The new cameras may look nice but who cares if they take lousy pictures. Function over fashion. It's a digital camera, not a fashion accessory. Is it only me or does it seem that the basic features of most modern cameras seem to be getting worse? My old Nikon Coolpix 3200 3 Megapixel camera's automatic white balance has never had a problem getting a proper exposure even though it lacks a lot of things like high ISO and antishake. I have purchased a lot of newer cameras from Pentax, Fuji, Canon and Panasonic with greater resolution and a lot of them have a lot of problems with an orange and yellow cast with automatic white balance. This is a very basic feature for most Point and Shoot cameras and yet many manufacturers still haven't addressed this issue. People want these kinds of camera to be as simple to use as possible. Hence, the name for their class is called Point and Shoot. I just hope these new ones perform like the 870IS.
