Three Easy Valentine's Day Gifts

Stumped on what to get your tech-loving sweetheart this Valentine's Day? It's not too late. Check out these three gadgets that are sure to make her swoon.

BlackBerry Pearl 8130 in Pink

Skip the candy and flowers this year and give your sweetheart the gift of style for Valentine’s Day. Just in time for what is arguably one of the most stressful holidays of the year, BlackBerry’s ever-popular Pearl 8130 is being released in a gorgeous, shimmery pink color. This feminine touch to the already efficient smartphone allows even the busiest working lady to remain stylish, yet organized, while on the go.

In addition to the already fabulous standard features we have come to expect from BlackBerry—managing e-mail with up to 10 supported POP3 and IMAP e-mail accounts, and instant Internet with Wireless broadband (EV-DO) connectivity for high-speed data transfers—this fashion-conscious device has a 2 megapixel camera with flash and 5x zoom, perfect for snapping quality pics at a moment’s notice. The advanced media player allows her to watch and record videos, listen to music, and lots more. Let’s not forget about the built-in navigation system to support the location-based application VZ NavigatorSM… which will be incredibly useful when her significant other refuses to stop for directions.

It also comes equipped with voice activated dialing, speakerphone, noise and echo cancellation technology, Bluetooth®, and more.

Currently only available through Verizon Wireless, this beautiful little treasure retails for $199.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate, with a new two-year customer agreement.

80 GB Microsoft Zune – Valentine’s Day Special Edition

That special music lover in your life will simply adore the Special Valentine’s Edition of the Microsoft Zune. This sleek and trendy alternative to the iPod is available in black, green, red or pink, in your choice of capacities: 4 GB, 8 GB or a massive 80 GB (the 80GB model is only available in red). The kicker here is that this extraordinary Zune comes with the option of engraving a little love note or inscription on the backside of the device, thanks to Zune Originals (zuneoriginals.net), an online store where you can custom-build the Zune for your beloved (or.. let’s be honest, for yourself!)

With an extensive and ever-growing library of over 60 laser engraved designs from artist collectives such as Colorblok, Friends With You, PSYOP and Studio Play Pretend, Zune Originals is offering unique Valentine’s Day designs. To these you can add three lines of text with engraved design, or five lines of text without, and for a limited time, the engraving is free with purchase. As if that weren’t enough, they will even ship and gift wrap each Zune in special Valentine’s Day packaging with a ribbon, card and everything—at no extra charge. You see, they basically do it all for you. How can you really go wrong?

Make this gift extra-special by auto-loading a Valentine’s Day playlist from the Zune Marketplace, including "Hip Hop Valentine," "80s Love," "Broken Love," and "Talk to Me, Barry.” Nothing says “I love you” quite like a soothing Barry White mix—guaranteed she won’t be able to get enough of your love, babe.

The devices are priced between $149 and $249. Better act quickly, though—this offer is only available through February 14, 2008.

Apple’s Pink iPod Nano

Everyone’s favorite pint-sized MP3 player, the iPod Nano, was recently made available in a new pink color that is almost cute enough to make you gag. But that makes it the perfect gift for Valentine’s Day (which, not coincidentally, is also known to make consumers gag.) Apple’s iPod Nano, available with 4 GB or 8 GB of internal flash, holds up to 1,000 or 2,000 songs, enough for 24 hours worth of song play on one full battery charge—which takes about 3 hours. Or, enjoy 5 hours worth of video play (though the 4 GB only holds 4 hours worth of video.)
Clearly, it’s no secret that the 2.75”x2.06” Nano is a best-selling item among gadget lovers everywhere. It also doubles as a portable, miniature photo album, holding up to 3,500 or 7,000 iPod viewable photos right inside its tiny anodized aluminum and polished stainless steel body (which is less than 0.3” thick and weighs just 1.74 oz!) However, there is nothing tiny about the display on this media darling. The 2” liquid crystal display has a blue-white LED backlight and 320x240 pixel resolution at 204 pixels per inch.
If pepto-pink isn’t your love bird’s color of choice, fear not—there are a variety of other options to choose from, including black, silver, green, blue and red. You could almost have one for each day of the week!

Jess:

Hey Sarah, I'm looking to buy either a Zune or iPod touch for my girlfriend's birthday. Just wondering your input on which is better. Apple's iPod's or Sony's Zune's? I've see you feature both.

yhm2008:

i like the black ipod.
