JVC Marshmallow - Cute, Cheap Headphones

I'm going to be 100% honest here, I have had to replace my noise canceling earbuds twice already this year. Not because they were bad quality, but rather because my cat chewed through the cord. Twice. Thus, I will not be spending a lot of money on said ear buds any longer, for fear my cat will eat them for lunch.

I have had a pair of generic, pink, JVC "Gumy" earbuds for a while and they are - lets just say, undesirable. I mean, they get the job done, but I work with men. Loud men. I need something that is going to be efficient in blocking out the chatter!

Cue JVC Marshmallow Earbuds. For about $20, you get a pair of comfortable, efficient, and lets be truthful, quite nice looking, noise canceling headphones. I may be partial because I have now been able to regain my sanity with these (i.e., the NOISE is gone!), but all in all a great little product in my opinion. Don't like pink? No problem, they come in white, black, green, blue, red, purple, etc.

Kasey Krehbiel:

Hi Sarah!

I'm Kasey Krehbiel, and I've been a fan of Tom's Hardware (and later TG entirely, and more recently techdarling.com) for quite a while now. I really like your girly-girl spinoff of the gadget world, and I actually pay attention to your posts because a lot of them are things we the (not-so-rich) average consumer might find extremely useful! They seem to be more practical than a hardware shootout between $6000 PCs or $1500 CPUs! I'm a married guy; what am I gonna do with that? Being a computer programmer, I'm really excited about new technology, and I try to keep up to date as much as I can. It's cool and everything, but I can't actually buy that stuff. My wife MIGHT sometime in our next 10 years let me spend $1500 on an entire computer; printer, mouse, keyboard and screen included!!! Maybe I'm just dreaming, eh?

I just wanted to let you know that I GREATLY appreciated this post. I'm a SSgt in the Air Force, and I work out at a gym with a couple of faulty (read: LOUD) elliptical machines in the back of the room. (please note that the rest of the equipment is GREAT. The AF treats us well!) The faulty machines squeak loudly in tune with the user's rhythm, and sometimes that throws off my breathing patterns! Lay on top of that those people that drag their feet on the treadmills, lay out their personal details on a cell phone (you know the type... they don't realize they don't have to YELL INTO THE PHONE!!! [not to mention they're in a GYM where talking loudly to the guy next to you is taboo, let alone carrying on by yourself]) etc. I even once witnessed a horrible breakup between a couple of youngsters.

My gym has one of those wireless sound systems where you can plug your headphones into a module on the workout machine and watch Fox News, CNN, Dr. Phil, whatever happens to be on any of the 5 screens, and the headphones I was using before did nothing to drown out all of the horrendous noise! Cmon people I'm tryina concentrate!

After I read your article on these headphones, I read some more reviews about them, and then I very quickly ran to Wal-Mart to get some. They were sold out, but luckily I live in San Antonio (I think the latest count has us pegged at nine-kajillion Wal-Marts) so I just went to another and there they were. I got some black ones for me, and some pink (yes!) ones for my wife, and now I can work out in peace and serenity!!! They sound wonderful, stay in my ears, perform great, and they're extremely cheap! Heaven forbid the fire alarm go off though, because Lord knows I wouldn't hear a thing!!! Thanks a lot for letting me in on these headphones!
