Coming Soon: Blackberry Flip Phone

Love your Blackberry but miss your old flip phone? No problem!

Exclusive, top-secret info has just been leaked regarding the newest addition to the Blackberry family, the Kickstart! Not a whole lot of details on specs yet, but this clamshell phone seems to have a SureType keyboard, has an external LCD, and a pretty decent looking internal LCD. It also uses the TrackBall for navigation and does have a camera.

Reports suggest a release date by the end of the year.....

What do you think - would you buy it?

How Far Would You Go For a Little Privacy?

Wow. I have to thank my coworker Ben for providing me with this glorious gem. He is lucky enough to experience firsthand, on a daily basis, my rants on how this office is freezing, and how loud and annoying my mostly male coworkers are. (Not to question their masculinity, saying they are only "mostly" male, but rather there this office is made up of 98% men. Moving on...)

I absolutely need this. Never one to be afraid to try something new or stand out in a crowd, I think I'm the perfect guinea pig for the Body-Laptop Wooly Jumper. BTW. Jumper? Did a British person name this thing? Sure it's ridiculous looking. Sure you probably can't see a single thing you are doing. Sure the lighting probably leaves something to be desired. But look at it! Something that hilarious cannot go un-used. Imagine the awesome hat-hair that I'd have after using that... hot!

Another fave: The Scarf for Tech-Addicts. Because wearing a scarf and gloves while holding your Blackberry just isn't complicated enough.

Please, someone send me this, I am more than willing to do a video demonstration.

I want nothing more than to drink an entire bottle of Nyquil and go to bed right now, but these little darlings are truly brightening my day. Thank you Ben!

Are Your Gadgets Making You Sick?

This is a particularly sub-par Tuesday for me, seeing as I'm feeling under the weather. It could be the unpredictable LA weather - which keeps switching from 100 degrees to 60 degrees, or it could be too much pool partying this weekend, but regardless, I feel less than glamorous today!

In the spirit of my mood, I found this interesting article on how our overwhelmingly frequent, everyday use of gadgets may be making us sick!

Are Your Gadgets Making You Sick?

From sore thumbs, acne, vision problems, and low sperm count (Yikes!) - I myself suffer from more than one of these ailments (not the sperm count). It's got tips on how to prevent each of these problems, and I for one am open to the advice!

It's worth a look!

Defend Yourself with a Lipstick Stun Gun

The first time I saw a stun gun masquerading as a tube of lipstick was at the International Spy Museum in Washington D.C. (very cool, if you haven't been, btw.) It was neither cute, nor available for sale. This one is not only much more realistic looking, but it's also less obvious than a Taser.

This Lipstick Stun Gun is only $49.95, 3" long, comes in your choice of pink, black or gold, and packs a ferocious 350,000 volts of "shock therapy."

Let's hope you'll never have to use this, but it's one solution for getting rid of any unwanted attention. Oh, and don't confuse it with your regular lipstick - ouch!

Disposable Cell Phones?

Phone cards are SO five years ago. Now, it's all about the disposable cell phone, or at least it will be, thanks to Hop-on Inc. The company unveiled it's $20 (13 Euros) disposable cell phones at CTIA in Las Vegas this year. The compact and recyclable units have a Texas Instruments chipset and works on 900/1800 MHz frequency, but no LCD screen. This is essentially JUST for making calls - absolutely no frills or extras.

A European distributor just picked up 10,000 of the phones for an intial test run. Sounds like a great solution for traveling, no? Hop-on also recommends the phone for kids, teens, and seniors.

Is Dual-SIM Technology the Future of Mobile Phones?

Never again will we have to bother carrying around two phones (one for business "This is Sarah," one for pleasure "Heyyyyyyy!")

Introducing the world's first dual-SIM smart phones, W1000 and G1000 Windows Mobile phones from HKC! Both devices feature a 200MHz CPU, 256 MB of RAM, a 2.8" touchscreen and Windows Mobile 6 of course. The difference between the two is that W1000 is CDMA and GSM and the G1000 is dual GSM.

W1000

G1000

The best part is, you can keep both accounts activated at the same time, or turn one or the other off, say if you're at home and don't want business calls, or vice versa.

Not yet available in the US (only in Asia so far... no surprise there).

How to Prevent Your Cat From Sleeping on the Keyboard

Every once in a while, someone I never talk to on iChat will get a nice message from me that looks something like this:

"555555555555555555555JJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJT4OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"

It's always a great conversation starter.

I have to agree with Gizmodo, this IS a brilliant idea, but there is no way in hell my cats would ever stay on this little ledge! They much prefer to lay directly on top of my hands on the keyboard, or to just keep walking across it, back and forth, back and forth.

But if you wanna try your luck, the Kit-in-Box by 'The Refined Feline' (LOL) holds up to 20lbs of cat and is available in three stains: birch, mahogany and cherry, for $49.99.

And if you do....... send pics!

JVC Marshmallow - Cute, Cheap Headphones

I'm going to be 100% honest here, I have had to replace my noise canceling earbuds twice already this year. Not because they were bad quality, but rather because my cat chewed through the cord. Twice. Thus, I will not be spending a lot of money on said ear buds any longer, for fear my cat will eat them for lunch.

I have had a pair of generic, pink, JVC "Gumy" earbuds for a while and they are - lets just say, undesirable. I mean, they get the job done, but I work with men. Loud men. I need something that is going to be efficient in blocking out the chatter!

Cue JVC Marshmallow Earbuds. For about $20, you get a pair of comfortable, efficient, and lets be truthful, quite nice looking, noise canceling headphones. I may be partial because I have now been able to regain my sanity with these (i.e., the NOISE is gone!), but all in all a great little product in my opinion. Don't like pink? No problem, they come in white, black, green, blue, red, purple, etc.

Karl Lagerfeld Cameos in Grand Theft Auto IV

In my opinion, anytime fashion and technology overlap, it is cause for celebration. Which is why I find it utterly amazing that none other than iconic fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld will be making a cameo in the much anticipated Grand Theft Auto IV.

The diva-esque Chanel designer was eager to be a part of it, and said ""I prefer to be in a video than to play with it, I would love to be a very nasty, politically incorrect character." This is no surprise to me. However, Lagerfeld will only be featured as a part of the game's soundtrack - where you can listen to him as one of the radio DJs.

The much sought-after game is due out on April 29.

Three Easy Valentine's Day Gifts

Stumped on what to get your tech-loving sweetheart this Valentine's Day? It's not too late. Check out these three gadgets that are sure to make her swoon.

BlackBerry Pearl 8130 in Pink

Skip the candy and flowers this year and give your sweetheart the gift of style for Valentine’s Day. Just in time for what is arguably one of the most stressful holidays of the year, BlackBerry’s ever-popular Pearl 8130 is being released in a gorgeous, shimmery pink color. This feminine touch to the already efficient smartphone allows even the busiest working lady to remain stylish, yet organized, while on the go.

In addition to the already fabulous standard features we have come to expect from BlackBerry—managing e-mail with up to 10 supported POP3 and IMAP e-mail accounts, and instant Internet with Wireless broadband (EV-DO) connectivity for high-speed data transfers—this fashion-conscious device has a 2 megapixel camera with flash and 5x zoom, perfect for snapping quality pics at a moment’s notice. The advanced media player allows her to watch and record videos, listen to music, and lots more. Let’s not forget about the built-in navigation system to support the location-based application VZ NavigatorSM… which will be incredibly useful when her significant other refuses to stop for directions.

It also comes equipped with voice activated dialing, speakerphone, noise and echo cancellation technology, Bluetooth®, and more.

Currently only available through Verizon Wireless, this beautiful little treasure retails for $199.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate, with a new two-year customer agreement.
