I love my iPod, but the earphones that came with it - not so cute. My first pair are so worn down, you can't even tell which one is right and which one is left (but does it even matter?). Regardless, it's time to upgrade.
These ear buds are sexy enough to spice up even the ugliest of mp3 players.
Both brands retail for about $50.
I've said it before, I love my job. But, it's hard to get anything done around here, considering I am surrounded by a pack of men that act like kindergarteners most of the time. Ok, that's not fair. They are smart, sophisticated, mature men. Who act like kindergarteners, flailing about in their mis-matched outfits, yapping about useless topics such as video games & cars.
What's a girl to do? Block it out, that's what. And these noise cancelling earbuds do the trick very nicely. The kind people at Rivet were nice enough to send me a few pairs, and although I'm sure they are all equally wonderful, I'm partial to the pink ones. (No surprise there.) One of my favorite features is the different sizes of rubber ear plug things - because with my tiny ears, even the "normal" sized buds were a pain in the - ear. Also, the cord is not rubber, it's cloth. How unique. How "cool." Plus, these puppies go REALLY loud. So even when the boys are making crude jokes about something only a man would find funny (I'm rolling my eyes), I stay happy in my own little world.
They retail at around $30. So they're cute, inexpensive, and they work. What else do I really need? Well, it would be nice if they sprayed "boy repellant."
Are you sick of all the cutesie little iPod covers for your first generation Nano? I'm not, but these little guys are so mean and scary, it's adorable.
What are they: Nanomonsters.
What do they do: Keep your Nano warm with a little rubber bodysuit while looking scary cute.
There are eight different characters, from Mitts, the evil pink bunny (my favorite) to T-bone the pirate and Skully the skeleton. The opening at the bottom allows for you to plug in your headphones & iPod charger, but when nothing is plugged in, they stand up on their own. Plus, one of their "hands" is a hook to attach to your clothes or bag.
Never again will I have to worry about dropping my iPod on the treadmill while I'm working out, because they are made of rubber and will bounce right back. There is no screen or Click-Wheel cover though, so scratches are still possible. Who cares, they look cool, and that is the most important thing after all.
Just in time for Spring, Microsoft will be releasing a pink version of the Zune on May 1 of this year.
I don't personally use the Zune, but at least this shade of pink is prettier than one the iPod comes in. Last year, Zune released a very limited 100 pink Zunes (in a much trashier shade of pink), and they were so wildly popular that someone actually paid $960 for one on eBay. Are you kidding me? So not worth it.
This one is delicate and beautiful, and will surely cost less now that it will be available to anyone and everyone. ($249.99 to be exact)

The search is over, people, Gerbera Designs have officially made the cutest, most versatile iPod covers in the history of iPod covers.
These come in about 50 different patterns & colors, to suit both male & female clients. They have reinforced fabric, foam padding & a plastic cover for the face of the iPod. But - they're handmade! So that means that your iPod cover is one of a kind.
Some of the various designs include: flowers, fishies, polka dots, stripes, skulls, houndstooth, robots, tattoos, gambling, golf, sushi, ice cream, hearts, need I go on? They even have one for a dentist with LITTLE TEETH ON IT! I'm not even a dentist and I want that one. I actually want about ALL of them, but that would be irresponsible of me, considering they are $30 each. But maybe just one.
Visit their site to see all style varieties.
I haven't seen a boombox in public in oh, about, 15 years. Although they were a staple of 80s culture, they are quite unnecessary since the revolution of personal media players and home entertainment systems. This "stereo sport case" by iHome certainly resembles a boombox, which it is, and so much more.
First of all, it's way cute and best of all, it's extremely simple. Just like the regular iHome, you simply plug in your iPod and the music comes streaming out throught the built in speakers. Only this one is a lightweight zip-up case that allows you to do it anywhere, free of electricity. Take it to the beach or any public area where you might want to wirelessly play music from your iPod, without the hassle of dealing with batteries or extension cords. No need to worry about water ruining your music player, because this rugged case is also water-resistant (the iPod goes inside).
Or, attach it to your headphones and while riding your bike (it comes with 2 brackets for this purpose). It does seem a tad bulky to use by yourself at the gym, as the website suggests, unless of course you have issues holding onto the tiny iPod (one of those armbands might be a smarter choice though).
It has a remote control, and also charges your iPod with the included adapter. Sa-weet!
Fabrix iPod Sleeves - heavy duty polyester & denim to protect your iPod from whatever may try to harm it. Available in multiple sizes, so it's sure to fit whichever model you have. It's $20, and available in some extremely adorable prints.
Griffin Technology Mirrored Chrome iPod Cases. A compact and iPod case in one - for those of us who are so vain, we need to see ourselves at all times. It seems like this would be hard to keep clean, what with your fingers smudging it all the time, though it does have a black rubber backing. $25.
Juicy Couture velour mp3 case - that's right, it's velour, just like their famous tracksuits. And, it's got several gold charms hanging off of it. Beware, this iPod case is only for the uber trendy. On sale at Neiman Marcus for $17 - marked down from $68 - what a steal! (I'm pretty sure that's because it's meant for the iPod mini and who has those anymore? Losers.)
Bibi felt iPod covers look like little monsters. Designed by French twins Lauren and Paulina Bibi, these little handmade covers are sure to knock the socks off of even the toughest critic. Not exactly logical, but they sure are damn cute. $40-$50.
I have mixed feelings about using a watch as an mp3 player (I can just picture myself dancing, swinging my arm out, and the earphone ripping my ear out), but I can appreciate the concept. Even as just a plain old watch, this one is really cute!
It gives you up to 10 hours of playing time (fully charged), is water resistant (let's hope so), and has a built in 256MB flash chip. Plus, it's preeeeeeeetty!
Oh, and it comes in purple, blue and black too. Ooh la la.

Here's something you can actually use. This little guy from i.Sound allows you to share your music with those around you. Just zip in your iPod, put in 2 AA batteries, and let the music flow. Or something along those lines.
It's got a hard shell to protect your iPod, but has a soft pink exterior. It's small too, so can fit easily in your bag while you're on the go. This is a great idea for summer, while you're spending time at the pool, at picnics, or on road trips. Thanks to the 'bass boost' speakers on the back, the sound is pretty impressive for such a tiny device.
Lets all buy these and throw our boomboxes out the window!
In theory, the iWalk is a good idea, but this design is terrible. I can't imagine anyone actually using this unless they have total disregard for how silly they might look. This reminds me of the first headphones ever made. Not that I've ever seen them, but I'm sure they look something like this:
Minus the iPods. If you are in fact interested in bringing back the 80s, it'll cost you about $60.
All you gold lovers will surely get a gold rush from this fancy little upgrade, a 24 carat gold plated iPod! Of course you'll need to shell out the big bucks for this, $600 for 8GB Nano or 30GB Video, and $800 for the 80GB Video. Wowza. Just send in your iPod and they install the hardened mirror gold backing for you.
The front of it is still white/black, but boy, she sure is purdy from the back!

Available here.
The thermometer is inching it's way up to 90 degrees in Los Angeles today, a clear indication that warmer weather is here to stay. What does that mean for gadget lovers? As we spend more and more time outside, we need more and more gizmos to use on-the-go.
This portable MP3 dock by DOC is a perfect accessory to take poolside, to a picnic, or just to sit on your deck with, no messy cords to deal with. It's battery operated (3 AAs) and comes in four metallic colors (Pink, Green, White & Black). It's only compatible with 2nd Generation iPod Nanos, so if you ain't got that - you better keep on looking!
Your iPod fits snugly inside and at only $40, the price is definitely right.

Don't feel guilty splurging on this one, ladies. Belkin's new iPod accessories are not only completely adorable, but 10% of each sale goes to Susan G. Komen's for the Cure Breast Cancer Foundation.
The Sport ArmBand holds your iPod comfortably and snugly all the while looking pretty in black and pink (and it's water-resistant). The Remix Metal sports a clear acrylic and pink brushed metal case with a little dangly thing to hook onto - well, whatever you want.
The Sportband goes for $24.99 and the Remix Metal goes for $29.99 - Mother's Day, anyone??
As I was sitting here this morning, freezing to death in this igloo of an office, I had an epiphany. Or rather, a fabulous idea for a product that someone needs to make. Ear Muff Headphones. Hear me out!
I don't know about the rest of you, but quite often here at TG Publishing we need to have our headsets on, so that we can make calls over Skype. Sure they look ridiculous, but that's the price of business, I suppose. Why not just go the extra mile and cover them in fur? (Fake, of course. I'm an animal lover.) Why? Well, besides looking undeniably adorable, I'd be keeping my ears warm & cozy. You see, someone decided that because we live in LA and it's May, we must turn the office thermostat down to 55 degrees (well, 70, but I dont' have much body fat to keep me warm).
Couldn't you just see it now - snow bunnies at work! This really wouldn't work for men, but for the girls I know out there in freezing cold offices - I think they'd probably use these even if they didn't need to wear headphones. Am I right?
BTW - if you know if any manufacturers of cute, fluffy headphones - please, share!
If ever there were a contest for strangest iPod sleeve, this would surely place in the top 3. It's called 'Cute Stinky' and it's a part of iStyle's 2007 line of iPod Sleeves. It's handmade out of micro-fiber cloth, so it not only looks ridiculous but it cleans your iPod and keeps it safe from harm! And, it is positively skunky!
Skunk isn't your style? Have no fear... they have a complete line of other adorable cases, for iPods, iPhones, Treos, etc. Check it out.

It's time to take it back, all the way back to the original Gameboy days of 1989. This is amazing, it's a "vintage" Gameboy that has been gutted and rewired to house your iPod mini or nano. It's actually fully functional, too, so you can use the Gameboy buttons to adjust volume, choose your songs, etc, and has a jack for your headphones.
Sure it's not the most attractive, sleek, or practical iPod cover, but I guarantee you'd get a lot of kudos for this.
Get it while it's hot, there is only one of them for sale at Etsy.

Microsoft has been busy releasing a colorful array of Zunes this year, and the next in line (as mentioned previously) is the limited-edition Watermelon Red. It will officially be available exclusively at Target and Amazon.com on June 10.
I do adore this color, but I am who I am, and I still like the pink one better. :)
It's always preferable to wake up to your favorite tunes rather than the "Bleep!! Bleep!! Bleep!!" of your average alarm clock. iHome is no stranger to iPod-docking music players, and now offer one of their fabulous alarm clocks in an appealing pink color!
The iH4P is a bit tall, but it's not too wide, so if you haven't got much space it will work nicely. Plus the snooze button is in an easy-to-reach place (on the bottom), and after all that is the most important thing. It's got a sleep timer that you can set so you can not only wake up to your music of choice, but fall asleep to it as well, has a remote control, features EXB (Extended Bass and Reson8) sound quality, and is battery operated so in the case of a power failure, you're still good to go.
It's only $49.99 and has free shipping if you order from iHome directly.

It's always a good idea to protect your iPod with a case, but do you really need a solid titanium case? Unless you're planning on running your iPod over with your car, or taking it onto the battlefield with you, you might just be wasting your moolah on this guy. Although it looks kind of cool, it's kind of pointless protecting your $150 iPod with an $820 case from Kiwami Studios. Yes you read that correctly: $820!

If you are anti-iPod like so many out there, you may have already had your eye on the modernized Walkman from Sony. Not only does the gadget have a much, much bigger display, but this new 8GB version (NW-808) is available in pink and white for the mediocre asking price of $267.
It'll be available in Japan starting July 10, but no idea when us Amurikans will get our paws on them.

While browsing for accessories I came across this interesting and adorable set of speakers. They're made by Roxy (the chick surfing company) for use with iPods. Just zip it open, plug in your iPod, and get quality sound wherever you may be. It's pretty handy for traveling or for taking it with you somewhere (think beach) or even just using it at home because it's pretty.
It's got a hard outer case with colorful polka dots all over it and a special little place to store your earbuds. Plus, it's only $100.

Are you the type of person who cares more about what your stuff looks like than how well it actually works? Well, you seem to be in the right place. (Just kidding, I care about quality too I promise.)
But just in case, I've got a real gem here. Novelty earbuds in a variety of colors and prints from Stylez Earphones. Who knows how well they work or if they even last longer than a month, but with this many colors to choose from, you can afford to buy a whole bunch and match them to your outfits.
Unfortunately, they aren't even available in the US yet, but don't let that tear you apart from owning your very own cow-print earbuds. There are a bunch of online stores listed on their website that you can purchase from.

It doesn't get any cuter than stuffed animal USB speakers. It really doesn't! This would be ideal for those people that buy their kids computers when they are like 4 years old. Does a 4 year old really need a computer? Moving on, these adorable speakers come in many different animal varieties: pigs, bunnies, puppies, bears. Where are the cats?!
Based on price ($10 to $15), they probably aren't that high quality, but at least it won't leave a mark if your kid decides to use it as a projectile at their baby brother.

P.S. Wow almost a month without updating. Sorry, fans, I have been uber busy - I still love you!
Is your iPod still running around naked? Cover that thing up, for goodness sake! It's not like you don't have a thousand options.
And in case you were asleep for the first 999, here is another bunch of trendy outfits to dress it up in, courtesy of Skinizi.
They offer a wide variety of high-quality prints from some well known modern artists.

Daaamn! If you were smart, you'd stock up on these for Christmas. For a limited time only, Target is offering up a Special Edition version of the 1GB iPod Shuffle - in a pretty shade of pink - along with a free $15 iTunes Gift Card - all for $79.99.
Target is donating a portion of the proceeds to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, as well, so unless you dislike pink (get out), supporting breast cancer research, or aren't into getting a sweet deal, then you've got no reason to sit on this opportunity.

There are only about a billion products out there that are pink and support breast cancer research. Shiny Shiny put together a nice little top 10 list of the best pink-colored gadgets whose manufacturers donate a portion of the sale to various charities/organizations in the name of boob health.
