Oh L'Amour Nokia!

Nokia's new line of phones (based on the L'Amour Collection) could quite possibly be the world's prettiest phones.  Up until now, the market for girly looking phones has been quite bleak.  It must be difficult for the designers to think of something besides "now color it hot pink."  But these phones are soft pink, ceramic looking, with swirlies, and gold, and have round edges, and are quite feminine looking all around.

Lamour_collection_1

With three models to choose from, there's pretty much an option for everyone.  They are priced between $255 and $575, and in this case, you get what you pay for.  The most expensive is the Nokia 7380, a 'fashion phone,' featuring keyless dial, a 2 megapixel camera, leather panels, and voice commands.   The Nokia 7370 features a 'swivel' open keypad, 1.3 megapixel camera, video ringtones, 2-inch QVGA color screen, and even comes in brown for the boys.  The most pocketbook-friendly is the Nokia 7360, just as beautiful as the rest, with a VGA camera, mp3 ringtones, and stereo FM radio.

Nokia737301_4 They are all equal in beauty, so whichever you pick, you'll be the envy of women everywhere.  Best to keep your distance though, thousands of them swarming to you while squealing "Ooooh it's so pretty!!!" could get ugly.

Philips 598 For the Females - Or is it?

So Philips has announced the release of the 598 - a cell phone targeted for the female consumer.

Tell me then, why is it BLACK?

Philips598_large_2 The "chick" features include a body weight index & basal metabolic rate calculator(are you calling us fat?), a calendar, shopping list, a digital diary, etc.  The fitness tools might be helpful, because we women ARE always worried about our weight.  But the diary?  Who keeps a diary on their cell phone?  First of all, longer fingernails make it near impossible to text with, much less type a whole DIARY entry.

And no girl that I know is this organized.  Don't they know that our preferred method of organization is tiny crumpled bits of paper covered in chocolate all over the bottom of our purse?  This is way too complicated for us, the least they can do is make it appealing to the eye.

But, I can appreciate the effort.  After all, we are the hardest people to please.  :)

Next Color for the Zune - Watermelon Red

Watermelons aren't even red, they are pink, but since they've already planned to release a baby pink Zune, I'll let this one slide.

Microsoft has announced that the next fabulous color for the Zune will be Watermelon Red.   This is much better than grody brown..  Ick.. what designer picked brown?  That is the least fashionable color for a gadget, ever.

Julien MacDonald Provides Facelift for the Sony Ericsson K510i

Are you over your solid colored mobile?  Looking for something a bit brighter, a bit spicier, yet still feminine?  Try this on for size..

Julien Fashion designer Julien MacDonald teamed up with Sony Ericsson to give the K510i, which is over a year old, a fresh facelift.  The design on the phone is cute enough to wear, so it's no surprise that she took it directly from a print in her Spring/Summer 07 collection, and was inspired by exotic flowers (specifically, orchids).

The phone has a 1.3MP camera, bluetooth, and an mp3 player.

Catwalk Worthy Mobiles from Elite Model Look

Elite Model Management is one of the most, well, elite, management agencies in the modeling/fashion industry. Their worldwide model search, Elite Model Look, has been around for almost 15 years. Not to be left behind in the technology frenzy, they are releasing a line of cells designed for the high attitude fashionista on a diet.

There are two models, one, which is quite literally, a SQUARE, and the other, which is more visually appealing in pink.

The EML1 is a tiny, lightweight phone that fits in the palm of your hand. It's got a camera, because it's common fact that models love to have their pictures taken!

goodies_ball.jpg
Here it is, sporting one of the trendy accessories that are available for it, a dangly ball!

The EML2 is larger, and much pinker. It too has a camera, and although a bit chunky, is pretty cute.

elitecell.jpg

Personally I'm very enticed by this, not because of the design or product, but because in addition to bringing you these fabulous gadgets, I model as well. And if Elite is getting into the game, it opens up the door to other fashion-inspired gadgets. Are you ready for it?

Next Up for LG: The Banana!

We've seen the Chocolate, the Prada, and the Shine. The next trendy phone on the radar from LG is called a 'Banana.' No doubt named after it's curvy ergonomical design, the Banana will be released in South Korea first and surely will make it's way to the US too.

ljbanana.jpg

I half expected it to be yellow, but in white & orange, it's not that bad (although it could be better if it were like, painted in pastels!)

Motokrzr Quartz is Perfect for the Vainest of the Vain

This is actually a great idea - you'd never have to bring a compact with you, or as a last resort, use your sunglasses as a mirror to apply your lipgloss. Don't pretend you haven't done it!

Aside from potential fingerprint smudges, Motorola's new mirrored Quartz is a very pretty phone.

$30,000 Blue & White Diamond Encrusted KRZR, Anyone?

Just when you thought these luxury phones couldn't get any more elaborate, along comes the blue and white diamond encrusted MOTOKRZR Roma.

Roma - as in, the ancient Greek city. And this phone is almost as marvelous as the city itself.

The phone itself is Cosmic Blue - and is encrusted with a total of 325 blue and white diamonds (thats a total of 4-5 carats in weight) and 18CT white gold. It's designed by Peter Aloisson, has a reflective glass front, bluetooth, and an mp3 player.

Oh, and it's $29,992.50.

Does it get any ritzier than this?

Introducing the New Blackberry Curve

Just when you got used to your Pearl, along comes something newer & cooler for you to drool over.

Cue the music - introducing the fabulously sleek Blackberry Curve. Ok, so maybe it looks like all the others, with a slight curve to the body. But Blackberry is calling this smartphone the smallest and lightest full QWERTY Blackberry on the market.

It also features a 2 megapixel camera, intuitive trackball navigation system, high-performance browser, and an enhanced media player.

It is very pretty though, I'm very much into the lighter color of the body.

Helio Ocean - by May 21?

If you just can't wait to get your hands on one of these, good news may be coming your way. According to Boy Genius Report, Helio is planning a general release for May 21, with a limited/internal/partner release 5-8 days prior. That is just around the corner, so start saving your pennies.

Between the iPhone, the Ocean, and the new Blackberry Curve, you're going to have quite the decision to make. One plus the Ocean has - it offers 3G wireless access in addition to most instant messaging clients, e-mail support, GPS, Myspace Mobile, etc.

It's preeeeetty cute, too, and has a full QWERTY keyboard - which is ALWAYS a plus in my book. I absolutely loathe text messaging on a 'regular' keypad.

Vertu's Strawberry & Cream Leather Perforated Ascents

Nokia's luxury division, Vertu, has released yet another special edition of the Ascent - and this time, they look like Strawberries. And Cream! One or the other, because you can't get it in pink AND white, but pink OR white (what a rip off).

The leather is perforated to give it the appearance of a strawberry (think seeds). It will be available in Vertu stores beginning in June. This phone provides high-perfomance 20mm hands-free loudspeaker with advance Yamaha polyponic hardware. What, no strawberry scent misting off of it? Ugh.

For Those Who Like the Natural Look - Sony Ericsson S500

In the spirit of the season, Sony Ericsson has just announced their newest addition to the family, the S500. Adorned in energetic outdoor colors "Mysterious Green" and "Springtime Yellow," this slider changes illuminations and visuals with the seasons, hours, or days (you decide.)

It's got a 2 megapixel camera, Bluetooth 2.0, music playback, and allows you to post your photos to your blog immediately. However, it won't be available until the Fall and it's unsure yet just who the carrier will be.

Purple RAZR Just In Time for Mother's Day

As if they needed an excuse to put out yet another RAZR. Motorola has fashioned a purple version of the uber popular mobile. It's going for $239.99, which seems a bit steep when really you're just paying for purple paint. But I am a fan of the RAZR so I can't really complain.

Vertu Ascent in Pink Leather is Worth More Than My Car

So here's the scenario: I find one of the most beautiful phones known to (wo)man, marvel at it's beauty and quality, and then take a look at the price tag - Wham!! $5,700. Go figure. But it's no wonder, the body is made of genuine pink leather and a liquidmetal alloy body that is tougher than aerospace-grade titanium.

Regardless, feast your eyes upon this beauty. It's not brand new, but it's new to me, and it was indeed love at first sight. It is even compatible with Cingular, my service provider. Unfortunately, it's not compatible with my budget. Or most of yours, I'm assuming (unless one of you is Paris Hilton - doubt it).

Blackberry 8120 Gives Us 4 New Pearls with GPS and Wi-Fi

The latest from the rumormill brings us the pastel colored revision to the Blackberry Pearl, the 8120. Most notable additions will be GPS, Wi-Fi, a 2mpx camera, and three new colors - titanium, blue, and gold. This photograph shows four very Easter-y looking Pearls, so I'm not sure where that's coming from, but wouldn't it be nice to have a seafoam green Pearl?

colorpearls.jpg

It's rumored for a late summer release, so if you're in the market for a new Pearl - it'd be in your best interest to hold off.

Wireless Wristband Vibrates When Your Cell Rings

For those of us who have handbags the size of a bathtub, losing our cellphone amongst the rubbish is a common problem. Especially when you miss five important phone calls because the ringer is muffled by the ever growing contents. Wouldn't a vibrating wristband be a real treat? BQ Wireless sure thinks so, enter the "BlueQ," a vibrating wrist band that .. well, vibrates, when your phone rings.

This could come in handy when you're in a loud place, a concert, a club, etc, or if you're in the movies and don't feel like keeping your cellphone out. Or if you just simply don't feel like carrying your phone around, as long as you don't go outside of the 30 ft perimeter.

It's not the cutest thing ever, but they have something called Qskins, where you can actually upload your own images and have a skin made that you wrap around the band.

Samsung's Anycall Miniskirt Phone - Weird Name, Cute Look

Samsung has newest addition to the mobile phone game, the SCH-C220, or the "Anycall Miniskirt Phone." Not that I don't love a good miniskirt, but that is a pretty wacky name for a cell phone and it reminds me of a certain role played by Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. I guess it SORT of resembles a miniskirt? Here is a photo to prove it:

samsung_4.jpg

If you say so! The phone is really cute though, it's a slider with a touch screen similar to LG's Chocolate. It comes in white, red, and blue, and features built-in GPS, a 2mpx camera, mp3 player, bluetooth, and an electronic dictionary (that could actually come in handy, I visit dictionary.com quite frequently). In keeping with the on-going ultra slim trend, it's also only 10.9mm thick.

samsung_1.jpg

The phone is only available in Korea, for the time being, and is retailing for about $650. Pretty expensive, but pretty cute as well.

Official iPhone Release Date: June 29

Get your credit cards ready, people! Apple has announced the official release date for one of the most anticipated gadgets in recent history. The iPhone will be available through AT&T(Cingular) on June 29. Two versions of the phone will be for sale, a 4GB for $499 and 8GB for $599.

For a closer look at the iPhone in all it's glory, take a look at this video from Macworld of Apple's Phil Schiller explaining all it can do.

Now I wonder... how long do you think it will be before an updated version of this is released? 6 months? One year? Comment with your thoughts.

Mercedes-Benz and Samsung are teaming up again with another joint campaign. Select high-end vehicles sold in Korea will now come with Samsung's SCH-C220 "Mini Skirt" phone as part of the standard package. This includes the S-Class, SL-Class, SLK-Class, E-Class, AMG and Roadster models.

The phone and car are cosmically connected (aka Bluetooth technology) so they can talk on the phone via the onboard microphone & speaker system. The phone also features GPS, navigation system, 2.0 mpx camera, and it looks as if it will be available in red as well (see picture below).

Sony Ericsson's K770 Cyber-Shot Phone

As much as I love a good pair of boots, I might have found the perfect fall accessory. This super slim K770 from Sony Ericsson is not only adorable, and compatible with the autumn color scheme, but it's packed full of geeky goodness.

k7701600.jpgk7703600.jpg

To name just a few of the fabulous specs... it's got a 3.2 megapixel camera, PhotoFix (think Photoshop, but smaller), and a 256MB memory card. Plus, you can post your pics to your blog or photo-sharing network (we think they mean Myspace & Facebook) in a snap using the drag & drop technology via USB. And all you music lovers will enjoy the media player and FM radio.

Those buttons look obnoxious, but besides that, me likey!

Samsung & Armani Present: Sexy, Stylish, Sleek ... and Safe?

Are you the type of person who cares more about brand name than functionality? Me too. Kidding! Well, now that Armani is joining the ranks of other uber-designers releasing cell phones (Prada, for example) there is yet another sophisticated smartphone to pine after.

armaniphone.jpg

Only this one is special! This touch screen phone features a special rape alarm. It's too bad we have to even think about things like that, but it's great to have the option out there. Here's how it works: you, the user, program 5 of your closests contacts in a special emergency contact list. When in need of assistance, simply press the volume key four times and the phone will automatically send alert texts to those 5 special contacts, who can in turn, try to contact you, or if need be, the police. It also activates a built-in GPS tracking system that locates your exact whereabouts.

OK, it's a smart idea, but if that were my phone, I have a feeling I'd be accidentally pressing the volume key quite a bit. Say you're in a crowded place, for example, or you have too much crap in your purse. No harm really, except that those 5 people will get an unnecessary text. Better safe than sorry!
.
P.S. Here are the specs, in case you're interested: Tri-band 900/1800/1900 GSM, 3 megapixel camera, 2.6-inch 262K color QVGA touchscreen LCD, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP support, microSD expansion, full Internet browser, and support for H.263, AAC/MP3/WMA audio and MPEG-4 video.

A $25,000 Ferrari. No, Really!

It's not everyday you can justify spending $25,000 on a cell phone. Come to think of it, can you justify that... ever??? Regardless, Vertu (luxury unit of Nokia) has collaborated with Ferrari once again to give us one of the most outrageously expensive luxury mobile phones in the history of the world: the Ascent Ferrari 60.

vertuascentferrari60ofc.jpg

But what exactly is so fancy about this phone? At first glance, it doesn't appear to be that remarkable, besides the very obvious Ferrari logo. However, it is made of titanium and uses the same screws as used on Ferrari automobiles, as well as the same leather used on the seats of the car. Umm that still isn't worth 25,000 bones. Scarcity is certainly one factor in pricing, as there are only 60 of them being manufactured. Plus you're gonna have to travel to London, Paris, Hong Kong or Singapore if you want it.

Don't bother with this phone if you are concerned with technology, however, because that's not what Vertu is about. It's got the basics - tri-band phone with bluetooth, voice dialing, GPRS, MMS and SMS. Beyond that.... eh. Nada. It's got nothing!! It's the Paris Hilton of cell phones.... worth a lot of money, but empty on the inside. Zing!

It's Here! The BlackBerry Pearl v.2 (aka the 8130)

It's about freaking time! It's been talked about & speculated about for months now, but this morning, RIM announced it's latest - the 8130, or BlackBerry Pearl 2.

The upgraded version of the uber popular smartphone supports 3G internet access, has GPS with Blackberry Maps, A2DP Bluetooth, 2mpx camera, a noise-cancellation feature on the microphone, SureType word completion, and weighs just a few ounces. The e-mail program and browser have been upgraded, as well - producing 'full page view mode.'

So it's tiny and packed full of features, but how does it look? Similar to version 1, but a bit sleeker, and is now available in amethyst-black or silver.

Keep an eye out for it to hit stores in November, priced at $200 with a 2 year contract.

Verizon's Take on the iPhone: The LG Voyager

Verizon Wireless announced today a series of new holiday phones. Among the bunch (which includes the new BlackBerry Pearl 8130) is the aptly named Voyager, by LG.

The Voyager looks strikingly similar to the iPhone, and it's no surprise, considering the huge amount of success Apple has encountered with the trendy touch screen technology. One benefit the Voyager has over the iPhone is the flip-down QWERTY keyboard, making it easier for those who have trouble with the tiny touch-screen keyboard. It also has a secondary screen for e-mail, texting, and games. The Voyager supports V CAST TV for live digital TV viewing and stores as much as 8GB of media on a microSDHC card, and has a 2megapixel camera.

All of the new phones from Verizon will be in stores by Thanksgiving... just in time for holiday shopping! No word on price yet.

The $94,000 Cell Phone.... Is This Really Necessary??

The Prada and Giorgio Armani phones are one thing, but this.... well this is quite another. Japanese mobile company Softbank Mobile is teaming up with Tiffany & Co to create a nearly $100,000 cell phone (exact price tag is 10 million yen or $94,000 USD). This luxury mobile phone is adorned in 400 diamonds for a total of 20 carats. Ask any girl you know - if there is anyone that knows diamonds, it's Tiffany's!

tiffanymobile1.jpg

Well at least it's pretty. SIKE! My eyes, my eyes! That thing is OOOOGALAY!

As if the rich folks really need another gadget to tote around and leave the rest of us bitter about. This is truly insane!

Anticipated launch date between Feb and March of this year. I wonder if it'll come in the little blue box?

Is Dual-SIM Technology the Future of Mobile Phones?

Never again will we have to bother carrying around two phones (one for business "This is Sarah," one for pleasure "Heyyyyyyy!")

Introducing the world's first dual-SIM smart phones, W1000 and G1000 Windows Mobile phones from HKC! Both devices feature a 200MHz CPU, 256 MB of RAM, a 2.8" touchscreen and Windows Mobile 6 of course. The difference between the two is that W1000 is CDMA and GSM and the G1000 is dual GSM.

The best part is, you can keep both accounts activated at the same time, or turn one or the other off, say if you're at home and don't want business calls, or vice versa.

Not yet available in the US (only in Asia so far... no surprise there).

Disposable Cell Phones?

Phone cards are SO five years ago. Now, it's all about the disposable cell phone, or at least it will be, thanks to Hop-on Inc. The company unveiled it's $20 (13 Euros) disposable cell phones at CTIA in Las Vegas this year. The compact and recyclable units have a Texas Instruments chipset and works on 900/1800 MHz frequency, but no LCD screen. This is essentially JUST for making calls - absolutely no frills or extras.

A European distributor just picked up 10,000 of the phones for an intial test run. Sounds like a great solution for traveling, no? Hop-on also recommends the phone for kids, teens, and seniors.

Are Your Gadgets Making You Sick?

This is a particularly sub-par Tuesday for me, seeing as I'm feeling under the weather. It could be the unpredictable LA weather - which keeps switching from 100 degrees to 60 degrees, or it could be too much pool partying this weekend, but regardless, I feel less than glamorous today!

In the spirit of my mood, I found this interesting article on how our overwhelmingly frequent, everyday use of gadgets may be making us sick!

Are Your Gadgets Making You Sick?

From sore thumbs, acne, vision problems, and low sperm count (Yikes!) - I myself suffer from more than one of these ailments (not the sperm count). It's got tips on how to prevent each of these problems, and I for one am open to the advice!

It's worth a look!

How Far Would You Go For a Little Privacy?

Wow. I have to thank my coworker Ben for providing me with this glorious gem. He is lucky enough to experience firsthand, on a daily basis, my rants on how this office is freezing, and how loud and annoying my mostly male coworkers are. (Not to question their masculinity, saying they are only "mostly" male, but rather there this office is made up of 98% men. Moving on...)

bodywooly.jpg

I absolutely need this. Never one to be afraid to try something new or stand out in a crowd, I think I'm the perfect guinea pig for the Body-Laptop Wooly Jumper. BTW. Jumper? Did a British person name this thing? Sure it's ridiculous looking. Sure you probably can't see a single thing you are doing. Sure the lighting probably leaves something to be desired. But look at it! Something that hilarious cannot go un-used. Imagine the awesome hat-hair that I'd have after using that... hot!

scarfdork.jpg

Another fave: The Scarf for Tech-Addicts. Because wearing a scarf and gloves while holding your Blackberry just isn't complicated enough.

Please, someone send me this, I am more than willing to do a video demonstration.

I want nothing more than to drink an entire bottle of Nyquil and go to bed right now, but these little darlings are truly brightening my day. Thank you Ben!
